Parliamentary body to meet today

RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The parliamentary committee in Punjab will make another attempt on Wednesday (today) to reach a consensus on

caretaker chief minister Punjab.

The meeting will be held at the provincial assembly of Punjab. Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Imran Nazir and Mohammad Ahmed Malik are representing the PML-N in the parliamentary committee while Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed, Sibtain Khan and Shoaib Siddiqui are nominees of the PTI.

The PML-N had proposed the names of former naval chief Zakaullah and former Justice Sair Ali while the PTI had suggested the names of Prof Hassan Askari and Ayaz Amir for the slot.

If the parliamentary committee fails to decide the name, the matter would be referred to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Sources said that the PTI is not inclined to accept the names of Prof Hassan Askari and Ayaz Amir, therefore, there is likelihood that the matter would be referred to the ECP.
