KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 106,764 tonnes of cargo comprising 76,306 tonnes of import cargo and 30,458 tonnes of export cargo including 3,951 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 76,306 tonnes comprised of 26,951 tonnes of containerised cargo; 243 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,500 tonnes of rock phosphate; 29,900 tonnes of coal; 11,612 tonnes of DAP and 3,100 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,458 tonnes comprised of 19,467 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,151 tonnes of wheat and 3,840 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 3,951 containers comprising of 2,161 containers import and 1,790 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 669 of 20’s and 665 of 40’s loaded while 02 of 20’s and 80 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 506 of 20’s and 398 of 40’s loaded containers while 116 of 20’s and 186 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely Cosco Philippines, X-Press Suez, OOCL Busan, Xin Xia Men, MT Karachi, Amagi Galaxy, Nu Shi Nalini, Sea Delta, and Clesius Miami carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. Kota Karim, Kota Lagu, Kota Layar, JPO Atair, Maersk Beaufort, Tian E Zuo, Hafnia Europe and Grand Pace carrying containers, oil tankers and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 149,459 tonnes comprising 123,505 tonnes of import cargo and 25,954 tonnes of export cargo including 3,450 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 123,505 tonnes includes 38,300 tonnes of LNG; 4,899 tonnes of palm oil; 1,359 tonnes of bitumen; 3,175 tonnes of canola; 14,950 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 21,226 tonnes of chemical and 39,596 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 25,954 tonnes includes 25,954 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,450 containers comprising of 2,084 containers import and 1,366 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely CV X-Press Suez carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely MV Genaro Levoli carrying chemical is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Al Ghero, CV MSC Memphis, CV X-Press Suez, MV Yuan Jing, MV Valadon, MV Navios Centarus, MV Royal Prince, MV Genaro Levoli, MT Al Thakhira, MT Cape Troy and MT Hydroussa were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean, canola seeds, coal bitumen, chemical, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as sixteen ships namely CV MOL Generosity, MV Reem-3, MV New Able, MV Ken Wave, MV Amadeus, MV Stahla, MV Coventry, MV Bunga Lilac, MT Jo Pinari, MT Tiamat Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Ibela, MT Sovereign, MT Komome Victoria and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, bitumen, steel coil, cement, soyabean, canola seeds, chemical, Mo Gas, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three vessels viz. CV MOL Generosity, MV Bunga Lilac and MT Gas Puffin carrying containers, chemical and LPG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were four ships namely CV Tempasos, CV Xi Hong Kong, CV Safmarine Nyasa and CV Sengo Calabrio carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
