PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority remained functional during four days of Eid and sealed 20 premises while imposing fine of Rs0.5million.

According to the spokesperson Attaullah Khan twenty premises have been sealed over violation of food safety standards across the province. He added that a fine of 0.5 million has also been imposed over serious violations food safety act 2014.

According to Khan, food authority has carried out more than hundred operations across the province including tourist spots of swat and Abbottabad. He further said that special attention was paid to tourist’s spots, recreation centers, parks and other public entertainment places.

He said that team Peshawar has made several checks in Family Park, tatara park, Bagh-e-Naran and other public places. The team has also kept strict check over bakers and sealed ten bakers over serious violation of food safety standards.

The spokesperson detailed that Mardan team has also carried out several operations by sealing three fake cold drinks factories. The team has also checked twenty mega marts and dozens of stores making sure provision of safe and healthy food to general public of the province. Team Abbottabad also remained busy while making several visits to tourists’ spots situated in Galyaat. The team has established a tourist facilitation center in Nathia Gali to facilitate tourists regarding food complaints. The team sealed six premises over violating food standards during Eid.

Team Swat has also checked tourists’ spots and established a facilitation center at Bahrain and remained functional during all days of Eid. Swat office has sealed 5 premises including three bakers over violation of safety standards.

The food authority team has totally imposed a fine of half million during Eid days. It is also said that more than five hundred complaints have been received through social media platforms and complaint management system. All the complaints were addressed and properly solved.
