RECORDER REPORT

HYDERABAD: Tax Free charitable Isra university hospital Hyderabad has been turned into a private property of Kazi brothers who are running it as their personal company.

These allegations were levelled against Kazi brothers by office bearers of Isra University Bachao Committee: Ashraf Noonari convener, Shahd Ahmed Khoso, Dr Lala Qurban, Muhammad Ali Khushk, Wahid Bux Sangrasi, Sardar Ayaz Memon and Abdul Aziz Phul while addressing press conference at Hyderabad press club here on Sunday.

They said that one brother Abdul Ghani Kazi is administrator, another Ghulam Qadir is vice chancellor and their sons Waliullah Kazi, Sajjad Kazi and Hamad Kazi have taken over this charitable university hospital, which was set up in 1986 for free treatment of poor as a trust on donations of human friendly persons. Now this hospital is charging more money from patients than Agha Khan Hospital. Kazi brothers have made fortunes out of this charitable hospital and university. They have set up private colleges like Tibra college and Physiotherapy college in Karachi, Nafees medical college in Islamabad, engineering college in Tando Adam and Isra school in Qasimabad. Kazi brothers have made so much wealth out of charitable Isra university hospital that they have not launched housing schemes: Isra village and Isra tower in Qasimabad and Isra housing scheme in Kandiaro district Noshero Feroz.

They said that management of Isra University was charging more admission fees allowed by Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. For instance university was charging admission fee of Rs1400000 from a student instead of allowed fee of Rs675,000. PMDC has not allocated them even one seat for self-financing but university was giving admission under this scheme on fees of Rs18,00,000. They said students were asked to write answers with pencils instead of ball pens in entry test so that position holders could be deprived by erasing pencil writing so that children of wealthy people could be admitted on huge bribes.
