KARACHI: Sindh Bar Council (SBC) announced on Wednesday that it would observe one-day mourning today (Thursday) over Peshawar suicide attack, claiming around 20 human lives including Barrister Haroon Bilour, Awami National Party (ANP) candidate for provincial assembly PK-78 Peshawar.

SBC vice chairman Salahuddin Gandapur stated that the suicide attack in Peshawar is a source of concern for the entire country and condemned it strongly.

He described the latest terrorism act against the democratic process when the country is only two week away from general elections, slated for July 25.

He announced to lodge strong protest against the terrorism act, which left the entire country shocked and grieved.

SBC’s calls to observe one-day mourning was supported by Karachi Bar Association (KBA). KBA president Haider Imam Rizvi said targeting the politicians during their election campaign is well-planned strategy to defer the general elections.

He condemned the Peshawar tragic incident in strongest possible terms and said that KBA fully supports SBC’s call.
