LAHORE: After the general elections, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started issuing summons to different political leaders.

The NAB has summoned PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif in relation to Ashiana Housing scandal, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and PTI leader Aleem Khan for keeping assets beyond means.

According to reports, the PML-N President has been ordered to appear before the accountability bureau on August 20, while Chaudhry brothers have been summoned on August 16. Aleem Khan has been asked to appear before the NAB on August 8.

All these leaders have also earlier appeared before the NAB.

In the Ashiana Housing scandal, former LDA chairman Ahad Cheema is on judicial remand. The NAB also arrested senior bureaucrat Fawad Hassan Fawad in various corruption cases including the Ashiana Housing Scheme case.

Sources claimed that Shahbaz was summoned after revelations made by Fawad during interrogation. According to the sources, Fawad awarded the Ashiana's contract to 'favourites'. The contract for the housing scheme was won by a construction company namely Chaudhry Latif and Sons.
