RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The Punjab police have decided in principal to donate an approximate sum of Rs 123.8 million for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

According to Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam, the senior officers will deposit their two-day while junior officials will deposit one-day salary in the account opened by Chief Justice of Pakistan for the construction of Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand dams to overcome growing water scarcity.

The construction of these dams is the need of the hour, he said, adding the amount will be deposited by 184,000 officers and officials of the Punjab police.

Although the force is fighting against terrorism, floods, earthquakes or other natural calamities, but we always took initiative of public service, he claimed.

Like all other institutions, he said, the Punjab police will make their contribution individually and collectively for the construction of dams.

He added that professionals from all fields should contribute for the cause so that new dams could be constructed as soon as possible to overcome the water shortage in the country.

“To overcome the water issue, we need to build more dams without any delay,” he maintained. In the past, the police force set many examples of public service and will continue this practice in the best interest of national progress and development, he concluded.
