KARACHI: More monsoon rains are expected to unleash across the country from Monday until Wednesday with gusty winds, the Met Office said on Friday.

It said that weak monsoon system is continuously penetrating into the upper parts of the country, which is likely to strengthen from Sunday. It further said that a westerly wave is also expected to influence the upper parts of the country on Tuesday and Wednesday that may trigger scattered rain-thunderstorm in many areas.

Scattered rain-thundershowers with gusty winds are expected in Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Mirpurkhas, Thatta, Zhob and Kalat Divisions, besides Islamabad and Kashmir.

Isolated falls are likely in Bannu, D I Khan, Faisalabad, D G Khan, Multan, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur and Larkana Divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan from Monday to Wednesday. Isolated heavy falls may strike Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala Divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir over the period.

In the next 24 hours: Mainly hot and humid weather is expected in the most parts of the country with isolated rain-thundershower and gusty winds expected in Kashmir and its adjoining hilly areas. “Seasonal Low lies over Northwest Balochistan. Weak monsoon currents are penetrating upper parts of the country,” the Met said.

Maximum temperature was recorded in Nokkundi, Dalbandin and Dadu as 44 degrees Celsius, each, Bhakkar, Rohri, Shaheed Benazirabad and Chillas 43, each. Karachi is expected to witness a partly cloudy weather with chances of drizzle on Saturday and Sunday. Temperature may remain up to 35 degrees Celsius on Aug 4 and Aug 5 with a maximum humidity level to 75 percent.

The Met Office also advised the farmers to complete sowing of corn and weed out the unneeded plants grew robustly in standing crops after the recent spell of monsoon rains to help increase the agriculture output.
