PML-N candidates' petitions

RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday dismissed the petitions of PML-N candidates Abid Sher Ali and Mehar Ishtiaq for recounting of votes in their constituencies NA-108 and NA-126.

Former state minister Abid Sher Ali had challenged the Returning Officer (RO)'s decision of rejecting recount of votes in NA-108. He prayed the court that his rival candidate had won with the margin of 1200 votes only and he had filed an application for recounting of votes. But the RO illegally and unlawfully dismissed his petition. He therefore prayed the court to pass an order of recount of votes in his constituency. However, the court dismissed his petition and advised him to approach the relevant forum. Mehar Ishtiaq also challenged the RO's decision.
