Digital science lab for rural female students opens

HYDERABAD: Digital Science laboratory was opened in a girl’s high school’s campus at Rajo Khan Nizamani, a backward village in Tando Muhammad Khan by Sindh Community Foundation.
The opening ceremony was held in the school where speakers included SCF’s executive director Javed Hussain, Program Officer Aisha Agha, school teachers and students. The lab was inaugurated by three girl students of schools. The ceremony was attended by the number of the school teachers and girl students.
“Situation of science education in Sindh is very poor because of several factors,” he said, adding that unavailability of science labs and modern equipments are also key factors behind poor learning by the female students at secondary level. He said that the solar-based lab would provide good learning environment for 150 female students from ninth and tenth classes for experiments. He said they would utilize audio-visual system for physics, biology and chemistry practical.
Aisha Agha said SCF had established two labs with same model in two girl’s secondary schools and also trained teachers on modern teaching methods in science subjects. She said the laboratory is equipped with equipments, audio-visual system, furniture, solar facility to avoid any disturbance due to power outage during the practical work time. Female teacher Sumera urged girl students that they should take active part in experiments and science related activities. A girl student praised efforts of SCF and said now they could be able to actively participate in experiments in addition to theoretical knowledge.
