LAHORE: The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) held a meeting of environmental control committee at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore, under chairmanship of Airport Manager Tahir Sikandar.

The meeting reviewed the preparations and arrangements for proper disposal and handling of sacrificial animal waste in surroundings areas of the airport, said the PCAA spokesperson on Monday. It was attended by senior officials of CAA, Pakistan Army, ASF, Representative of Airlines Operator Committee, Lahore, and Walton Cantonment Board.

The participants shared the details of respective waste management plans and briefed the house that extraordinary arrangements are in hand to ensure cleanliness of the areas round the clock.

The chair emphasized on sensitivity of cleanliness around the airport premises with regards to birds activity and highlighted that birds are serious flight safety hazard for both arriving and departing aircrafts.

He also highlighted that public awareness campaign is being launched whereby the residents near the airport premises shall be sensitized regarding proper disposal of animal waste at designated points. The message shall also be shared through Friday sermons in the mosques through mosques administration, he added.
