KARACHI: Karachi and many rural districts of Sindh and Balochistan provinces plunged into darkness after EHT line of national grid tripped on Friday night.

Aaj News reported that almost 80 percent areas in Karachi were hit by power breakdown. Power supply remained suspended in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Landhi, Malir, Shah Faisal Colony, Karachi Airport, Gulistan-e-Johar, Gulshan-e-Johar, North Nazimabad, Defence Housing Authority, Mehmoodabad, Baloch Colony, PECHS, Jackson, Keamari, Lines Areas, Guru Mandir, Lasbela, Garden, Old City Area; Kharadar, Mithadar, Shershah and some other neighbourhoods.

Hyderabad, Thatta, Mirpurkhas and Nawabshah districts also suffered due to power breakdown.

Karachiites of the affected areas have complained that they and their children have to spend sleepless night; hence, they would not be able to go to offices or businesses Saturday morning. They said they had no information when the fault would be rectified and when power supply would be restored. Aaj News reported that power supply to Balochistan province was also suspended due to national grid’s EHT line tripping.
