PESHAWAR: ANP's Central Secretary General, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has asked the government for immediate change in the poisonous internal and external policies of the country and instead of serving the interest of super powers should frame independent foreign policy in the larger national interest.

In his statement issued on the occasion of the international day for terrorism affected persons, he said that situation in the world had changed totally. Therefore, no further blood could be shed in the interest of super powers.

The veteran politician paid tributes to who had rendered sacrifices for the restoration of peace in the world and added that they believe in the independence, democracy and peaceful world. He asked the new government of Pakistan to play its role in this regard and bring independent foreign policy into the forefront to retrieve the nation from the cancer of terrorism.

Mian Iftikhar said that the commemoration of the day of the terrorism affected persons demands that now the mindset should be defeated to restore peace in the world and prevent more humans from becoming victim of it. He said that late Bacha Khan and Wali Khan have always given the lectures of non-violence, due to which their followers remained the maximum target of terrorism.

He said that national policies were always framed in excuse, which resulted in making the nation to suffer. He said that terrorism has become a mindset both at local and international levels and all peace loving forces should join hands for its abolition.

The ANP stalwart said that unfortunately, super powers made the region target for their nefarious designs and for the purpose our peaceful curriculum was changed and utmost effort was made to change the thinking of the nation. He said that the introduction of heroin and Kalashnikov culture in the region was also part of the series.

He said that he himself is included in the affectees of terrorism. He said that his son was killed and suicide bomber attacked his house. Therefore, he feels the grief and agony of the terrorism-affected people.

He said that in the recent election, he was defeated, but still he is on the hit list of terrorists and threat alerts are being issued to him. He clarified that time has arrived that the world in general and our region in particular need peaceful, human friendly and progressive policies. He said that for defeating terrorism, the peaceful world should have to support us.

Mian Iftikhar said that they had always condemned terrorism either it is happened in any part of the world and in any shape. He said that they believe in peace and especially mentioned difficulties faced by him during his stint as provincial minister and spokesman.

He said that during the ANP led provincial government, they had waged holy war (jehad) against terrorism, saying that though Swat operation was carried out by army but, without the support of their party the eradication of terrorism was impossible.

The Pakhtun nationalist leader also asked Afghanistan to review its policy to revisit it while keeping in view the interest of the nation. He said that Russian, China and United States should not turn Pakistan into fuel of their interests. He said that China should restrict her differences with India to within her own frontiers. He said that the path of anti-human forces can be blocked only through changing of national policies.
