KARACHI: Model Customs Collectorate (MCC), Preventive on Tuesday claimed to have confiscated huge quantity of assorted contraband goods worth Rs 17.036 million from Jodia Bazaar.

This was informed by Dr Iftikhar Collector MCC, Preventive at a press conference held at Customs House here.

He said that credible information was received which revealed that huge quantity of assorted contraband goods were stored at some benami warehouses located in Daryalal Street and Muhammadi Compound at Jodia Bazaar.

Reacting on this information, a team of Anti-Smuggling Organization carried out a raid at the said spots and recovered 38 tons of betel nuts, 972 kilograms of Gutka, 143 soft packaging (dandas) and smuggled cloth rolls and bundles worth Rs 17.036 million. Consequent upon recovery, the FIR has been lodged and further investigation is in progress.
