RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The City Traffic Police (CTP) Lahore has decided to initiate a grand operation against illegal bus stands on all major thoroughfares of the provincial capital.

Chaired by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Liaqat Ali Malik, the decision was taken in a meeting with the office-bearers of All Bus Owners Association on Monday.

Headed by SP Traffic Police Asif Siddique, the CTO also formed a team to chalk out a line of action through which the traffic police could address the grievances of the Association besides making city encroachment-free.

Speaking on the occasion, the CTO termed the transporters as backbone of the economy and assured them that their problems would be addressed on priority basis.

The senior officer, however, warned that strict action will be taken against illegal bus stands.

An awareness campaign and a training session will be arranged to educate drivers of heavy transport vehicles (HTVs), Malik concluded.
