ISLAMABAD: Robberies and snatching at gunpoint registered an upward trend during the last seven days in federal capital despite enhanced security arrangements.

According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, different police stations of the city registered nine cases of theft including robberies and snatching at gunpoint, six cases of auto theft, two of kidnapping and one case of murder were registered during the last week.

The most ‘favourite’ areas for the offenders were within the limits of Margalla, Industrial Area, Sabzi Mandi and Karachi Company police stations.

Margalla police station registered two cases of snatching at gunpoint during the period.

In another incident, one Abdullah filed a complaint with Margalla police station that four unknown accused snatched mobile hands-free and a power bank from him.

In the same period, Industrial Area police station registered one case each of murder and car theft. One Riaz Hussain informed Industrial Area police station that an accused had killed her daughter by giving her poisonous edibles. The motor vehicle thieves stole a bike bearing registration number HN-860 of one Asad.

Sabzi Mandi police station registered one case each of auto theft and snatching at gunpoint. The motor vehicle thieves lifted a car bearing registration number RIA-2693 of one Muhammad Asghar. In another incident, one Nadeem Akhtar informed Sabzi Mandi police station that four unidentified armed persons snatched cash and computerized national identity card (CNIC) from him.
