ISLAMABAD: A review of the nuclear posture is an important idea but it is also fraught with dangers as it brings to mind the then President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari’s offer of NFU (no first use of bomb) to India rebuffed within days by Mumbai attacks in Nov 2008.

This was stated by former Senator Farhatullah Babar at the launch of “Mapping the Policy Agenda” containing policy ‘guidelines’ for the new government launched at a hotel in Islamabad yesterday. One of the policy recommendations stated, “The new government should undertake a nuclear posture review” that should also be made public, said a press release issued here on Monday.—PR
