RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Khalid Mehmood, an expert on alternative medicines has claimed that as many as 90 percent homoeopathy colleges are reportedly owned, directly or indirectly, by the members of National Council for Homoeopathy (NCH) which is a conflict of interest.

In a media briefing here on Saturday, Khalid said it has been highlighted many times that homoeopathic colleges are producing voters instead of homoeopathic doctors as more than 40 percent of them keep bogus matriculation certificates which needs to be verified by the government departments other than the Council.

He said the Homeopathic Act, 1965 is an outdated legislation, adding that amendments should be made in this regard as per modern lines.

The constitution of Board of Homeopathic Medicine System should also be amended to ensure more transparent selection of board members, he added.

He further said the recommendations of a subcommittee of the standing committee of Senate, which had been constituted under the convenership of Senator Kalsoom Perveen, should be implemented immediately in order to save innocent lives.
