Mind your language, please

This is apropos a Business Recorder editorial carried by the newspaper recently in which it has concluded that “the Information Minister normally articulates government policies in a cool, rationale manner, though occasionally flying of the handle. He needs to control this tendency for the good of his own party as also the greater public interest. Hopefully, Thursday’s events have served as an instructive lesson, and the focus in future will remain on myriad issues confronting this country.”

It was quite shocking to note the level of discourse in the parliament. Describing opponents as robbers and thieves will never add to the ongoing democratic process that has so far witnessed two uninterrupted civilian transitions: from PPP government to PML-N government and from PML-N government to PTI government. Our legislators, including ministers, must take responsibility towards their conduct as the use of pedestrian language is certainly not acceptable.
