PM in China

Prime minister Imran Khan and his team members seem to have been cashing in on the opportunity of their China trip. As reported by media, China’s President Xi has vowed support to Pakistan after the prime minister informed him about the economic woes of his country. That China is a friend in need is a fact. It is quite likely that Pakistan will be able to muster the required support from China to place itself in a position to cut a better deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Saudi Arabia has already announced a $6 billion package for Pakistan to provide the latter with much-needed fiscal cushion.

It is quite likely that the PTI government will be in a strong position to carry out its economic policymaking processes after prime minister’s return from Beijing in a highly confident manner. Prime minister Khan will therefore be required to lift as many as possible poor people out of abject poverty by drawing a valuable lesson from China’s experience in this regard. There is no denying that China-Pakistan bilateral relationship has received a major boost from prime minister Imran Khan’s China visit.
