RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the conversion of East Pakistan into Bangladesh and the continuing economic crisis in the country were the result of the betrayal of the Pakistan ideology.

While addressing a reception organized by local office bearer of the JI Malik Shahid Aslam in the city, he said that the enforcement of the Islamic system was the solution of all the problems facing the country and the nation. JI Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, also addressed the gathering.

Sirajul Haq said that Allah had blessed this country with unlimited resources of men and material. In spite of that, Pakistan was under heavy debt of the IMF. He said that fear and lawlessness had gripped the nation while the rulers were compelled to travel in armored cars for security. He said the Pakistani people were known as hardworking and talented people. However, he said, the country was facing poverty, hunger and unemployment because of having drifting away from the divine system for which it had come into being. He said the country’s rulers were responsible for the poor economy as they had plundered vast public resources and transferred their ill gotten wealth abroad.

The JI chief said the government was saying that it had resources only for a couple of months and the public exchequer were empty. It was being said that if Saudi Arabia and China did not give financial help immediately, the government could not be run. He said the nation wondered if the other nations of the world also faced similar crisis.

Sirajul Haq said the main reason was that the rulers secured votes from the people through rosy promises but after coming into power, they turned their back to the masses. Besides, the ruling junta had totally forgotten the objective for which the country had been achieved. He said that if instead of spreading begging bowl before the IMF, the rulers had begged forgiveness from Allah and switched over to the interest free system and introduced Zakat and Ushr, they would have been saved from the shame of approaching the IMF. The JI chief said the general public was not paying taxes because it did not trust the rulers. On the other hand, if the rulers had introduced Zakat and Ushr, the common man would have gladly paid his due.

Liaqat Baloch, in his address, said that the general public was getting disappointed of the PTI government. He said that the loans from Saudi Arabia and China could not help the government for long. He urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to try to create an atmosphere of national harmony and understanding and the ministers should stop giving provocative speeches. He said that during the last 75 days of the PTI government, around 70 000 people had been rendered jobless.
