RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Sunni Tehreek (ST) Pakistan chief Sarwat Ijaz Qadri on Tuesday vowed to take the Aasia Bibi case to its logical end but disassociated from the provocative speeches by protesting religious scholars to unleash rebellion within the military.

Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, he said the religious parties of the country will do their best to take the Aasia Bibi case to its end, warning that the anarchy will have bad implications on the society if anyone intended to drag the nation into chaos.

“Anarchy is against the national interest,” he said, but distanced himself from defending a fatwa against the Supreme Court judges for exonerating Aasia Bibi from blasphemy charges and military’s top command.

He blamed that Aasia Bibi was released on the pressure of foreign powers. He also vowed to contest Aasia Bibi case on legal grounds.

He said his party will not let any conspiracies bring the religious parties and state to the collusion path. Qadri regretted police raids on the workers’ homes, saying that the arrest of activists should stop.

He said the vandals, who torched private or public properties during the three-day sit-ins against the Supreme Court verdict on Aasia Bibi, have nothing to do with his party.

Soon an all parties’ conference will be called, he told, to draw future line of action on Aasia Bibi case, who now stands clear from blasphemy charges after the apex court verdict.

He said case will be fought vehemently on legal grounds through the review petition to bring Aasia Bibi to justice.
