ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has said there is an impression that the country is being pushed towards ‘one party rule’ by tightening the noose around opposition parties in the name of accountability.

“The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is taking revenge in the name of accountability. The present government damaged the accountability process and made the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) controversial,” PPP leaders Senator Moula Bux Chandio and Dr Nafisa Shah expressed these views in a joint press conference on Tuesday.

Moula Bux Chandio claimed that the Prime Minister made the NAB a controversial institution. He said that the NAB should make accountability across the board. He said that PPP would accept if all steps are taken under the law and constitution.

Answering a question, he said that the PTI government should complete its five years tenure. He said, “What can we say about PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s statement when the Prime Minister himself has talked of mid-term election.”

Dr Nafisa Shah said that the country is being pushed towards one party rule by trying to tighten the noose around the opposition parties. She said that the PPP would join hands with other parties only to stop one party from dictatorial system in the country.

She said that one party is being given a chance to play only, but domestic crisis is not in its priority. She said that the PPP always worked for the end of dictatorship and for the supremacy of the Parliament and democracy. She said that the current puppet government is defaming the institutions.

Moula Bux Chandio said that according to the situation, Pakistan People Party (PPP) could make alliance with any other party.

He claimed that the PTI government is making the army, judiciary and NAB controversial. He said that the solution of all issues is in the Parliament. He said that the political parties can make alliance to pull the country out of economic crisis.
