ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Islamabad Police Amir Zulfiqar Friday cautioned young students that narcotics have become an undeniable threat to society and everyone including parents, teachers and friends should not only play their role in creating awareness but also stay vigilant about their surroundings and seek help if they come across any such issue.

He was addressing the Roots Millennium awareness campaign on drug prevention in youth, started in collaboration with IGP Islamabad office, here at The Millennium Universal College (TMUC), Sector H-11/4.

Amir Zulfiqar emphasised the need for a collective effort to eradicate menaces like drugs from society for the well-being of future generation. He said the narcotic has become an undeniable threat to society and everyone including parents, teachers and friends will have to play their role in creating awareness.

The thought-provoking ceremony was also attended by AIG (operations), SP (City), SP (Headquarters), SP (Industrial Area) and many other police officials.

Roots Millennium Education CEO Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq highlighted the role an academic institution can play in bringing about social change and in reforming lives of youth on a larger scale. While addressing the ceremony, he said young people are real assets of the country and their secure future is a responsibility that should mutually be shared by every member of society.

Students were sensitised on this pressing issue of society by a panel of experts that included DG SAASI Dr Maria Sultan, film industry stars Hareem Farooq and Imran Abbas and others who motivated students to make healthy and positive choices in their lives, rejecting any foreign influences and making their parents and country proud.
