PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) Central president, Afandyar Wali Khan said on Saturday that the peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan is in best interest of Pakistan. He warned of chaos and anarchy in the country if 18th Amendment was changed.

He was addressing at a ceremony, held in connection with anniversary of Khan Abdul Wali Khan at Bacha Khan Markaz, the party headquarter in Peshawar.

ANP chief said that the peaceful Pakistan and Afghanistan are essential for each other. He said that they want durable peace in the region, which could enable sustainable economic growth and development.

Commenting on merger of tribal region in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Asfandyar Wali said that though the Fata had merged with settled parts of the province. But, he said there was no presence of law in the merged districts.

The ANP chief said that the incumbent government is trying to bring changes in some clauses of the 18th constitutional amendments. But, he said the PTI didn’t have requirement majority in parliament to pass it.

However, he warned that ANP will strongly resist, if the government bring change in any clauses of the 18th constitutional amendments.

Commenting on the tragic incident of Sahiwal, Asfandyar Wali said that if the former Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar was declared guilty in Naqeebullah murder case, then the incident like, Sahiwal didn’t happen in the Punjab province.

‘Those pointing fingers on performance of the previous governments, they took record loans, Asfandyar said. He criticized Prime Minister Imran for increasing price-hike in the country, because he is living life on government expense.

He said that the half people belonging to those political parties are part of Imran Khan cabinet, which he earlier called them as looter. He said the accountability must be beyond the parties’ honesties. ‘No one can become billionaire by selling six chickens or income of sewing machine, Asfandar Wali said.

He said that they are celebrating anniversary of the party founding leader, Abdul Wali Khan, who never compromised with dictators. He said Wali Khan also called ‘Bengalis’ as brother.

He added that Abdul Wali Khan always stood against barbarism and cruelty when it happened anywhere. He further said the Wali Khan had fought against the anti-democratic forces in the country. He said that Khan Abdul Wali Khan had asked for restraining from indulging in Russia and US war, a 40 years back.
