KARACHI: Federation Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) president Engr Daroo Khan Achakzai has said proposed new amnesty scheme will be investment friendly to focus the industrialisation in the country, instead of revenue generation.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday at Federation House, Achakzai said new amnesty scheme is just a proposal so far and the prime minister has asked business community for submission of suggestions and recommendations for the scheme to make it a fruitful and result oriented.

Talking about the recent tension between Pakistan and India and its impact on economy, he said India will be the major loser in current situation as trade balance is in Indian favour.

He informed that Pakistan’s imports from India are some $1.7 billion compared to $335 million exports. These statistics clearly reflect that with recent tension Indian exports will be hurt and its industry will suffer massive losses, he added.

He urged Indian government for removal of trade barriers for promotion of bilateral trade among the two neighbour countries and said India should play its positive role for peace and prosperity in the region.

FPCCI president said recent tension is created by Indian government for political point scoring and not only Pakistan, other regional countries are afraid of Indian negative approach.

Daroo Khan said trade volume among South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries is about 5 percent compared to 63 percent of European countries (EU). Even ASEAN trade is gradually increasing and surged to 24 percent. There is need to take some measurers for promotion of bilateral trade among SAARC countries, he urged.

He said Pakistan has always struggled for peace in the region and believed that war is not the solution. “We want to make it clear that in case of any war or conflict India will face irreparable loss”, he added.
