HYDERABAD: The SU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat has said that the University of Sindh has been placed on number 20 in HEC ranking of over 274 varsities of the country, pledging that it will be included in top ten within a year or two.

He said that tenfold increase in the research activities, conduct of classes and renovation of dilapidated roads at the varsity could be observed from the last two years adding that more heed was being paid in this context.

Speaking with the deans, directors and chairpersons of various departments during his visit of campus to observe the ongoing semester examinations’ process, he said the University of Sindh will be brought at par with rest of the national level higher educational institutions of the country, making it a student-centric institution dedicated to academic excellence, tolerance and fairness.

On the occasion, SU Registrar Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof Dr Akhtar Hussain Mughal, Director Campus Security Rafique Ali Brohi and others were also present. The vice chancellor paid a visit to Department of Zoology, Institute of Mathematics & Computer Science (IMCS), Institute of Information & Communication Technology (IICT) and other departments.

Dr Burfat said no compromise would be made on the quality of education and research on the campus while the faculty members were supporting his reforms regarding conducting research in various fields. “The faculty members are fully aware of the significance of higher education and they are extending their full cooperation with his administration in making efforts to conduct quality research on the campus”, he said.

He went on saying that the students of the university were being provided the best possible opportunities and conducive environment for study on the campus. “They need to take full benefit from these opportunities”, he said. Dr Burfat once again gave a message clear and louder that no compromise would be made on the 75 percent attendance of the students from the next consecutive semester-a condition for appearing in the examinations.
