KARACHI: Karachi on Wednesday underwent a scorching weather with 36.8 degrees Celsius, as the Met Office has forecast hot and humid conditions for the city in the next 24 hours. It said that temperature may scale up to 38 degrees Celsius with 75 percent humidity on Thursday. “A shallow westerly wave is affecting western parts of the country and likely to grip upper/central parts of the country tonight and may persist during next 3 days,” the Met said.

Maximum temperature was recorded in Benazirabad 44 degrees Celsius, Jaccobabad, Dadu, Mohenjo-Daro, Hyderabad, Padidan, Chhor, Sukkur, Rohri, Mithi and Rahim Yar Khan 43, each. Kalat received 13 mm of rain, Barkhan 3 mm and Bahawalnager and Larkana 2 mm, each. In the next 24 hours: Scattered dust-thunderstorm and rain with a few hailstorms are expected in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, D. I. Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, D. G. Khan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala and Rawalpindi Divisions, besides Islamabad and Kashmir.

However, isolated falls are likely in Quetta, Kalat and Zhob Divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan. Hot and dry weather is expected in elsewhere in the country on Thursday, the Met said.
