KARACHI: Parliamentarian leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh moved the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday to disqualify Faryal Talpur, sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, as a legislature of Sindh Assembly.

The petition filed by the PTI member stated that Faryal Talpur is not eligible for Assembly due to her alleged money laundering and corruption references.

Haleem Adil asserted that Faryal Talpur is involved in fake accounts, money laundering and corruption references, to which she must be disqualified from the provincial Assembly.

Talking to the media, PTI MPA criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and expressed that Faryal will be disqualified within a month if Speaker shows impartiality.

An accountability court in Islamabad extended physical remand of PPP senior leader Faryal Talpur, the sister of former president Asif Ali Zardari, till July 8 in the mega money laundering through fake bank accounts case.

Thereby, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has been allowed to further interrogate her for 14 days in the case.

During the previous hearing on June 15, the court had sent Talpur to a nine-day physical remand under the custody of NAB Rawalpindi until June 24 for further interrogation into the case.—NNI
