RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: Opposition parties will deliberate upon a possible anti-government movement in the All-Parties Conference (APC) convened by Emir Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman today (Wednesday). The JUI-F emir has invited almost all the opposition political parties to participate in the APC to be chaired by him which is expected to announce an anti-government movement from a joint platform.

President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif-led delegation will be attending the APC while the party’s Vice President Maryam Nawaz has also reached Islamabad who is also expected to be part of the PML-N delegation to attend the conference.

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will lead his party’s delegation to the conference while other opposition political parties including Awami National Party (ANP), Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), Qaumi Wattan Party (QWP) and other religio-political parties will also be attending the APC. Interestingly, Jamaat-e-Islami which is part of the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) wherein the JUI-F is one of the leading factions, has recused itself from attending the APC. The JUI-F sources said that the party emir has also extended invitations to the coalition partner of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) of Sardar Akhtar Mengal. However it is unclear whether or not the BNP-M will attend the APC. The sources further said that the JUI-F will float the proposal to launch a ‘decisive’ movement against the PTI government as well as a protest movement with an aim to lock down the federal capital.
