AC directs NAB to ensure presence of all 16 accused on 22nd

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court hearing multibillion rupees fake bank accounts case on Monday fixed for hearing a corruption reference on illegal allotment of plots.

While hearing the case, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to ensure presence of all the 16 accused on the next hearing to be held on August 22.

The 16 accused include former Director General Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Manzoor Qadir alias Kaka, Omni Group’s Abdul Ghani Majeed and others.

The Bureau on May 23 authorised filing of a corruption reference against former director general SBCA Karachi and others. The accused persons by misusing their authority allegedly allotted the government land at Nehr-e-Khayyam Karachi to the M/S Friends Associates which incurred a loss of Rs 3 billion to the national exchequer.

According to the NAB, the accused used fake account for payment of plots. The NAB requested the court to conduct trial of the reference and award sentence to the accused. The court after hearing the NAB’s plea fixed the reference for hearing on August 22.
