Possible flood situation in Punjab

It is good to learn that Punjab chief minister, who is already facing severe criticism on account of lacklustre performance of PTI-led coalition government in the largest province of the country in ‘one year of Naya Pakistan’ has taken some measures with a view to coping with possible flood situation. According to reports, after India released water into River Sutlej and Alchi Dam, the disaster management authorities of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have issued flood alerts. These reports also said that Punjab chief minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has chaired a high-level meeting to review precautionary measures for the possible flood situation due to discharge of over 200,000 cusecs water by India in River Sutlej. The PDMA Punjab has issued a flood alert due to rising water levels in the River Sutlej after India released water into the river.

Doesn’t it sound a belated action on his part? His government was required to come up with a comprehensive strategy with the onset of monsoon rains. He was required to act rather proactively in view of India’s growing belligerence for quite some time.
