KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday dismissed the appeal of accused in “Roshan Sindh” corruption case against the transfer of case to Islamabad.

A division bench of SHC headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali M Sheikh announced the verdict in the appeal of the accused, who moved the court against the transfer of “Roshan Sindh” corruption case inquiry to Islamabad.

Court rejecting the appeal of all accused in the case also converted their interim bails to protective bails. Bench approved ten-day protective bail of all accused to direct them to appear in Islamabad related to inquiry of the case. As many as twelve persons are accused in “Roshan Sindh” corruption case. Counsel for accused told the court that National Accountability Court (NAB) transferred the inquiry of “Roshan Sindh” project to fake accounts case.

One of the accused pleaded innocence in hearing, at which Chief Justice SHC remarked, “Who said you did anything wrong.” “You turned Sindh into a green and beautifully place,” Justice Sheikh sarcastically commented.

Counsel of accused told the court that NAB Rawalpindi is making calls to accused and pleaded that Chairman NAB lacks the authority to transfer the case from Karachi to other city.

NAB prosecutor told the court that solar lights worth Rs4 billion were to be installed in entire province under Roshan Sindh project, however there are complaints of massive corruption in utilisation of funds in this project.
