KARACHI: The 8th Muharram's Alam procession which was taken out from Nishtar Park on Sunday morning culminated at Hussainian Iranian Imambargah Kharadar peacefully, amid improved security arrangements.

The 9th and 10th Muharram Jaloos are also set to take place on Monday and Tuesday, as the Sindh Government has chalked out comprehensive security plan to ensure law and order in the metropolis with deployment of police, paramilitary rangers and other law enforcers.

The provincial government has announced to deploy as many as 71,000 policemen and 8,000 Paramilitary Rangers to maintain law and order during the Muhrramul Haram across the province including Karachi.

In order to maintain law and order and avoid any untoward incident, the provincial government has imposed a ban on pillion riding across Sindh, including Karachi, on the 8th, 9th and 10th Muharram.

Mobile services remained disrupted on Jaloos route and adjoining areas of Majalis venues at different city locations as part of measures taken to ensure security of processions on Sunday.

The authorities have sealed MA Jinnah Road with placement of cargo containers and other barriers as part of the security of alam processions and would remain unavailable for routine traffic on 9th and 10th Muharram. Roads and streets around Saddar, Regal Chowk have also been blocked for all kind of traffic movement.

IG Sindh in a recently held high level meeting had said there were 2015 Imambargahs in the province, including 342 in Karachi, 590 in Hyderabad, 138 in Mirpurkhas, 107 in Shaheed Benazirabad, 374 in Sukkur and 464 in Larkana divisions.
