BRIndex100 extends gains

KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange Friday ended on a strong positive note on the back of healthy buying by local and foreign investors.

BRIndex100 gained 51.42 points or 1.44 percent to close at 3,631.13 points BRIndex100 touched intraday high of 3,657.80 and intraday low of 3,586.05 points. Volumes stood at 273.604 million shares.

BRIndex30 increased by 342.09 points or 1.82 percent to close at 19,187.64 points with a turnover of 201.495 million shares.

The KSE-100 Index surged by 447.99 points or 1.32 percent to close the week at 34,475.69 points. Trading activity also further improved as daily volumes on the ready counter increased to 287.100 million shares as compared to 261.561 million shares traded Thursday.

Foreign investors also remained net buyers of shares worth $0.6 million. The market capitalization increased by Rs 60 billion to Rs 6.771 trillion. Out of total 403 active scrips, 238 closed in positive, 149 in negative while the value of 16 stocks remained unchanged.

WorldCall Telecom was the volume leader with 30.819 million shares however closed on previous day’s closing level of Rs 1.11 without any change followed by Lotte Chemical that gained Rs 0.06 to close at Rs 16.07 with 19.111 million shares. Rafhan Maize and Unilever Foods were the top gainers with Rs 310.00 and Rs 291.42, respectively to close at Rs 6,510.00 and Rs 6,119.97.

Nestle Pakistan and Gatron Ind were the top losers with Rs 155.00 and Rs 23.00, respectively to close at Rs 5,365.00 and Rs 437.00.

BR Automobile Assembler Index gained 65.47 points or 1.31 percent to close at 5,063.35 points with total turnover of 1.171 million shares.

BR Cement Index increased by 53.42 points or 1.77 percent to close at 3,068.86 points with 35.021 million shares.

BR Commercial Banks Index surged by 150.75 points or 1.88 percent to close at 8,181.88 points with 29.611 million shares.

BR Power Generation and Distribution Index closed at 4,759.28 points, up 57.8 points or 1.23 percent with 14.211 million shares.

BR Oil and Gas Index inched up by 65 points or 1.67 percent to close at 3,952.24 points with 19.673 million shares.

BR Tech. & Comm. Index gained 14.96 points or 2.01 percent to close at 758.60 points with 56.410 million shares.

Ahsan Mehanti at Arif Habib Corporation said that the stock closed bullish in the earnings season on investor speculation ahead of corporate earnings announcements at PSX.

He said surging global equities and crude oil prices, speculations on expected expansion of CPEC projects and $1.74 billion upbeat data on remittances in September 2019 played a catalytic role in bullish close.
