KARACHI: Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has expressed sorrow and grief over the sad demise of the founder and Chairman of Atlas Group of Companies Yusuf H Shirazi.

“It is like an end of an era as Shirazi Saheb is no more with us,” said Director General PAMA Abdul Waheed Khan. He said that Yusuf founded Atlas Group in 1962, which steadily grew over more than half a century into a business conglomerate with wide ranging field of operations from engineering to power generation, financial services and trading; to name a few.

“All this was due to his efforts, sagacity, far-sightedness, and all out hard work and of course devotion and dedication of a content workforce that he so admirably commanded,” said DG PAMA.

Abdul Waheed added that Yusuf was a notable figure due to his long-standing contribution not only to trade but also in general through his writings, authorship, lectures, and often-advisory role to the government of the time.

“He was decorated with civil awards for his meritorious services and towards exemplary corporate social responsibility. At this point, he was uniquely placed as a veteran and as an elder in the country,” said Abdul Waheed.

He said PAMA offers most sincere condolences on the death of his founder member.—PR
