ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government has decided to get back Asad Umar in the federal cabinet. According to details, senior PTI leader and former finance minister Asad Umar will be made minister for planning and special initiative.

This was announced by Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information & Broadcasting DR Firdous Ashiq Awan through a tweet.

Current Minister for Planning Khusro Bakhtiar will be given the portfolio of Ministry of Petroleum, said Awan. She said that a notification in this regard would be issued soon.

Earlier, Asad Umar quit the federal cabinet, saying that Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted him to take over as energy minister but he didn’t believe that it was the right move.

“As part of a cabinet reshuffle, PM desired that I take the energy minister portfolio instead of finance. However, I have obtained his consent to not take any cabinet position. I strongly believe @ImranKhanPTI is the best hope for Pakistan and inshallah will make a Naya Pakistan,” Umar had tweeted on April 18, 2019.
