KARACHI: Deputy Inspector General Police (DIGP) East Zone, Karachi Amir Farooqui has said that the police would provide facility to industries for criminal record verification of their workers.

Speaking at a meeting of industrialists at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI), he assured that a record verification unit would be established in KATI.

He further said that the time has gone when someone can shut down a city by just raising a slogan, we would not allow anyone to challenge the law.

He said that IGP Sindh Kaleem Imam and Additional IGP Gulam Nabi Memon have made transparent the appointment procedure of Station House Officers (SHOs) in local police stations and these steps have improved public perception of police immensely.

He said that to improve police response 15 Madadgar, it will work under the SSU.

He was of the view that police has done a lot for crime prevention but more is needed to make investigation more effective to increase conviction rate and for this purpose forensic laboratories would be established.

He underlined the cooperation of business community for curbing crime and maintaining law and order. And he especially praised the role of KATI in this regard.

He said that Korangi is the most peaceful and crime free district of Karachi just because of combine efforts of police and the community.

President KATI, Sheikh Umer Rehan briefed the DIGP regarding economic significance and law and order situation of Korangi Industrial Area.

He said that KATI has established a most effective neighborhood policing system in the city, with the help of local police. “We need more manpower to make it more effective,” he added.

Former senator Abdul Haseeb Khan said that if we criticize police for some issues than we should praise it for good work as well.
