Kashmir under OIC spotlight

Embittered by the controversy caused by its reservations over the Kuala Lumpur summit of Muslim countries, Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) seems to have made the right move to deal with the post-summit situation. Saudi Arabia, one of the countries that had boycotted the summit, has now vowed to convene a special meeting of the foreign ministers of member states of the Organisation of Islamic Conference on the ongoing atrocities in occupied Kashmir in Islamabad.

Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud at the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan has assured to hold a meeting of OIC pertaining to Kashmir matter in April 2020 through Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, who toured the country on December 26.

Kashmir deserves global attention, always. A pro-active OIC role will certainly contribute towards efforts aimed at resolution of Kashmir dispute. An OIC summit on Kashmir will in a way address the plight of India’s Muslims who have been vociferously protesting against Narendra Modi government’s latest anti-Muslim moves.
