RECORDER REPORT

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance convened on Thursday was postponed because its chairman is abroad and consequently important agenda was not taken up.

An official on condition of anonymity stated that as per rule, members of the committee present in a meeting can elect one of them as presiding officer to conduct the proceedings of the committee for the day.

However, he added that the chairman of the committee Senator Farooq H Naek himself wanted to conduct the meeting and consequently the meeting was postponed.

It remains unclear as to when the committee would meet again to take up the agenda including a bill to further amend the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act, 1947 and a bill to further amend the Anti Money Laundering Act, 2010.
