Fruits and vegetables stalls to be set up at Expo Centre

HYDRABAD: Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Mohammed Abbas Baloch said that the present price hiking of essential commodities made people’s lives miserable and their purchasing power had been decreased therefore to provide essential commodities on economical and cheap prices to the people, the administration had decided to make Expo Centre Hyderabad functional and to organize stalls of fruits and vegetables with the help of growers on every Saturdays and Sundays.

He was presiding over a meeting regarding making Expo Centre functional at his office on Thursday. The Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad said that Hyderabad was the biggest market of fruits and vegetables in the province yet local people were purchasing essential commodities on high prices that is why committees comprising on growers, officers of district administration, market committee, agriculture department had been formed to make Expo Centre functional and arrange Bachat Bazaar there so that people could purchase essential commodities on economical prices, after that the role of middle man would be eliminated and growers could also get better prices of their yield as well, he added.

He said that Expo Centre Hyderabad was also near to new Sabzi Mandi Hyderabad therefore growers of Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar and Tando Mohammad Khan would not have any difficulty to transport their yield at the Expo Centre Hyderabad.

Briefing the meeting about Expo Centre Hyderabad, the Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Hyderabad Yousuf Shaikh informed that for making Expo Centre functional the rules and regulations would be made with the consultation of growers and officers of agriculture department and market committee so that growers would get better profit of their yield.

He also informed that Expo Centre Hyderabad has capacity of 72 stalls and in future the stalls of daily-use items would also be arranged in the Expo Centre. He assured the meeting that the businessmen and buyers would be provided possible facilities by the district administration. The growers in the meeting also gave their suggestions about utilization of Expo Centre.
