FDA DG vows to form advisory board

FAISALABAD: Director General FDA Muhammad Suhail Khawaja has said that an Advisory Board would be constituted to take input from the members regarding sustainable and multidimensional development of the city according to the policy guidelines. He unfolded this idea during the addressing to the members of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI).

President FCCI Rana Skandar Azam presented welcome address and mentioned city issues confronted to the public. The Director General thanked the management of FCCI for inviting him in the Chamber and said that the industrialists and business community were rendering significant and valuable services for the economic and social development of the society and the nation building. Giving details, he informed that the Advisory Board would be think tank of this city and representation would be given to the business and traders organisations, retired bureaucrats, educationists, social activists and other stakeholders to exercise the collective wisdom for taking input regarding conceiving and planning the development project and improvement of infrastructure as par the future requirements.

He informed that the city master plan 2020-2040 was also devising which would help in organised development and the issues of traffic and parking would also be redressed .He maintained that Traffic Engineering and Planning Agency (TEPA) was also being activated for devising planning for remodeling of intersection, roads, slip roads and introducing traffic assessments &management system. He added that initially five important city roads are proposed to make as model through traffic engineering. Responding the questions, the DG FDA said that the grand operation was underway against the illegal and unapproved housing schemes while one window counter had been established in FDA to deal the matters relating to the applicants for seeking approval of the housing schemes. He claimed that the registration of the developers had been started to overcome the problem of illegal housing scheme establishment which was first ever step in Pakistan and now registered developers would be allowed to establish housing scheme and violators would be banned/ blacklisted in this regard.

He told that the project of Techno Park had also been conceived for the promotion of Information Technology business. The land located at Madina Town would be used for this project and private sector would be invited to build Techno Park, he explained. He informed that the Kashmir bridge underpass would be completed by the end of June this year and regular monitoring was being carried out of construction work. He informed that 69 fruit parks were being developed in FDA city besides establishment of urban forest and wide range of tree plantation. He said that missing link roads including Jhumra road to Sheikhupura road would be included in development program besides proposing the Jaranwal Syed wala road construction.

He assured that the issues relating to the WASA would also be focused and best services would be provided to the citizens regarding disposal of waste water and water supply.

President FCCI Rana Skandar Azam welcomed the Director General FDA Muhammad Suhail Khawaja and appreciated the measures being taken by him for improving the performance of FDA. He gave various proposals for speedily development and highlighted the public issues relating to the civic facilities.
