Ulema spell out dos and don’ts

ISLAMABAD: There must be no Urdu speeches in Friday prayers while Arabic sermons are restricted to the minimum, said a religious decree issued here by ‘Dar-ul-Afta’ of Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC), Wafaq-ul-Madaris Pakistan and Ulema of various school of thoughts in a meeting chaired by Allama Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi. The decree also asked people to offer Sunnah of all five prayers at their residences.

The decree says all religious, political gatherings should be suspended/restricted forthwith for preventing the spread of deadly coronavirus in the country.

The decree says, sufficient space should be ensured between prayer rugs (Safs) of mosques. Joint prayers should be offered on bare floors which must be cleaned with soaps and surf before offering each prayer.

Aged persons and children should better offer prayers at home. Ambulation centres of all mosques should be kept clean thoroughly.

Soaps and sanitizers should be made available at ambulation points. Philanthropists should donate soaps, sanitizers to mosques to benefit people.

Ulema underscored the need for following the principles of Islamic Sharia to protect themselves from deadly coronavirus.

The decree says preventive measures are not un-Islamic. Handshaking and hugging are not obligatory; say only Assallamaalaikum to friends and others during meetings.

People should use facemasks, sanitizers as precautionary measures. Ulema urged businessmen to avoid hoarding of masks and sanitizers. The decree has asked people to register complaints about hoardings with the relevant district management. Ulema urged the government to punish hoarders and profiteers.

Ulema urged the nation to persistently seek forgiveness from the Almighty, recite Ayat-e-Karima and Darood Sharif, besides ensuring implementation of government’s instructions to insulate themselves from the deadly virus.
