KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange Wednesday triggered another market halt on 10:17am to suspend trading for 45 minutes.

After negative opening, the stock market saw freefall due to panic selling on investor concern over coronavirus spread. It was the fifth market halt during last eight days.

The PSX informed traders on 10:17am that due to 5 percent decline in KSE-100 Index, market halt is triggered. All equity and equity based derivative markets remained suspended for 45 minutes and reopened following a 5 minutes pre-open session.

“Situation worsened over the time and majority of stocks hit lower circuits, causing the index to plunge by a total of 2,238 points during the session,” an analyst at Arif Habib Limited said.
