RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira has criticized the government for not taking appropriate measures to respond to the break out of coronavirus in the province of Punjab.

Addressing a press conference at the PPP Punjab Secretariat on Wednesday, he said the Punjab government had failed to adopt precautionary measures at airports. He further pointed out that the threat of dengue fever is also lurking around but the performance of the Punjab government shows that it would not be able to control it as well.

He lamented that the government has failed to respond each and every crisis it has faced since it came into power. He said there was a need of strict checking of all airports to curb corona virus because it is not an indigenous disease.

He said the Sindh government took immediate measures and tried to control the menace of coronavirus. He said the Punjab government, on the other hand, failed to put the people coming from Iran in quarantine properly. He said since the threat of dengue fever is imminent, therefore, the prime minister should give charge of the province of Punjab to the Chief Minister Sindh.

He added that it is deplorable that the Punjab government has put itself into quarantine ahead of the people of the province. He also criticized a delay in setting up quarantines in the province, saying that the Punjab government failed to respond to the threat immediately.

Kaira has urged Speaker Punjab assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi to play his role and save the people of the province from the pandemic of corona virus.
