LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Salman Rafique have been released from Lahore’s Camp Jail following acceptance of their bail petitions by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in the Paragon Housing scam reference.

The PML-N leaders and workers received Khawaja brothers on their release from the jail. They shouted slogans in their favour.

Despite the restriction of Section 144, a number of PML-N supporters gathered outside Camp Jail to greet the PML-N leaders upon being released.

The PML-N Lahore President, Mohammad Pervaiz Malik, Secretary General Khawaja Imran Nazir, senior leader Senator Pervez Rashid and others were present.

Upon release from the jail, Khawaja brothers waved to their supporters from the sunroof of a vehicle.

Saad Rafique said that justice has been served. Both the brothers moved to their house directly from the jail.

It may be noted that the National Accountability Bureau arrested both on December 11, 2018 over their alleged involvement in the Paragon Housing scam.

Talking to media, Senator Pervez Rashid held the incumbent PTI government responsible for soaring inflation, worsening economic situation and spread of coronavirus across the country.

The PML-N leader maintained that the PM Imran Khan made his address to the nation after two months of COVID 19 spread. He said no preparations’ were made by the incumbent government to tackle the coronavirus spread.

Pervaiz Rashid further said the incumbent government has rendered lives of the people miserable due to its inaptness.

Khawaja Imran Nazir told media that release of Khawaja brothers is manifestation of their political struggle. He said the provincial government is not sharing true figures of coronavirus carriers in Punjab.
