RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Karachi Wholesale Grocers Association (KWGA) Chairman Zulfiqar Ali on Wednesday expressed concerns over the stoppage of vehicles transporting food items by the police in the backdrop of lockdown.

In a statement, he urged the Chief Minister Sindh and provincial police chief to take notice of the issue and bar police from stopping the vehicles transporting essential commodities and kitchen items such as wheat, flour, pulses etc. into Karachi from interior Sindh and Punjab.

He warned if this harassment continued, there would be shortage of commodities such as wheat, flour, pulses, rice, in the city as the entire province has been put under 15-day lockdown. He said the markets are closed across the province as precautionary measure to stop spread of coronavirus, but the food supply continues.
