Federal govt released funds totally for two-third of projects

KARACHI: The federal government released allocated funds for various development projects in Karachi Package totally except three projects in the first nine months of the current financial year.

There are nine development projects in Karachi Package, of which the allocated amount for six projects was released completely in the first nine months i.e. July-March 2019-20, statistics indicted.

The federal government released the allocated amount of Rs2.750 billion completely for Greenline Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) as well as allocated amount of Rs893 million completely for construction of the flyover at Sakhi Hassan, Five Star and KDA Roundabout along the Sher Shah Suri Road.

The allocated amount of Rs1.064 billion was released completely for re-construction of Mangho Pir Road from Jam Chakro to Banaras, and Rs1.118 billion allocated amount was released completely for re-construction of Nishtar Road and Mangho Pir Road.

Rehabilitation/upgrading of existing fire fighting system of KMC also received the allocated amount of Rs855 million completely and construction of road over Malir Bund from Dadabhoy Town/Expressway up to the limits of PNS Mehran, District East, received Rs44 million out of Rs50 million allocated in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the current financial year. The federal government didn’t allocate any funds during the current financial year for construction of the flyover on Jinnah Avenue M-9 (Karachi Package) and construction of a road from Dumlottee Wells up to the link road adjacent to the Education City in District Malir.

However, it didn’t release any funds out of the Rs4.050 billion earmarked in the current financial year for Green Line BRTS operations.
