KARACHI: Marginal changes were seen on the local currency market on Wednesday in the process of trading activity, dealers said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: The rupee gained modestly versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 167.70 and Rs 167.80 respectively, they said.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The national currency did not move any side in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 167.00 and Rs 168.00 respectively, they added.

The rupee was trading versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 179.00 and Rs 181.00 respectively, they said.

In the third Asian market trade, the dollar found a footing on Wednesday as investors returned to safe-havens, reversing some risk currency gains made on hopes the coronavirus crisis in Europe and New York was slowing.

The greenback rose on most majors, a day after suffering its worst drop against a basket of currencies in nearly two weeks.

It was not enough to recoup the ground given in recent days, but came after a sour end to trade on Wall Street on Tuesday and as a two-day rally in Asia's equity markets ran out of puff.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at 75.888, the greenback was available at 4.335 versus the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 7.066 in terms of the Chinese yuan.
