ISLAMABAD: Pakistan received first ADB-funded emergency medical equipment and supplies to combat Covid-19, said a press release issued on Saturday.

The first consignment of the ADB-funded medical equipment and supplies to strengthen hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, isolation units, and other medical facilities started arriving in Pakistan on April 10 in Islamabad. Responding to Pakistan’s emergency assistance requests, the ADB swiftly repurposed $50 million from the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) to procure the urgently required supplies.—PR

Khawaja brothers meet Parvez Elahi

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders MNA Khwaja Saad Rafique and MPA Khwaja Salman Rafique called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi at his residence here on Saturday and felicitated him on bringing all parties together for protection and curbing coronavirus.

The PML-N leaders inquired about welfare of former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujat Hussain and also expressed good wishes for him.

Elahi said “for tackling with pandemic like corona, we all have to brush aside politics and face it together as a nation; humanity demands today that we should all demonstrate solidarity.”

Khwaja Saad Rafique said “we have old relations with Chaudhry family, our elders and Chaudhry Sahibaan and their elders had very deep relations with each other, we want to carry this old relation further.”
